Dear Energy alumni,
We wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your support this past fall. We had an incredibly full calendar, and many of the events we held would not have been possible without your support. Here are some highlights of the activities the Energy Management Group students and alumni participated in during the fall quarter:
We wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your support this past fall. We had an incredibly full calendar, and many of the events we held would not have been possible without your support. Here are some highlights of the activities the Energy Management Group students and alumni participated in during the fall quarter:
- Days on the Job
- Each year, UCLA Anderson students visit companies across California to meet with leading experts in the field, and learn about opportunities in the energy industry. Our cohort of energy-focused first and second year students traveled from San Diego to San Francisco, attending office visits, corporate presentations, and even a power plant facility tour.
- Special thanks to our hosts: Chevron, Cypress Creek Renewables, EDF, Google, Hecate Energy, PG&E, SolarCity, SolarReserve, Southern California Edison, STEM, Sungevity, and SunPower.
- Interested in hosting a Days on the Job event next year? We’d love to learn about what you do in the energy industry! Contact Julian.Trobe.2018@anderson.ucla.edu for more information.
- Career Night
- Anderson hosts this formal, on-campus event for students and industry representatives to mingle for an evening of networking.
- We thank the following companies for participating this year: 8MinuteEnergy Renewables, Auxilius Heavy Industries, Brookfield Renewable, BYD, EDF, GI Energy, Hecate Energy, RomeoPower, SolarCity, SolarReserve, and Southern California Edison.
- Whether your company has internship opportunities or full-time positions available for Anderson students, we’d love to connect! Contact Traci.Kuratomi.2018@anderson.ucla.edu to share current openings, or sign up to join us at Career Night next year.
- Case Competitions
- Anderson students have already participated in two case competitions this school year, advancing to the final sixteen in the University of Michigan Ross Renewable Energy Case Competition, and placing second overall in the University of Texas, Austin McCombs National Energy Finance Challenge. A special thanks and congratulations go out to the students who represented Anderson at these competitions.
- Mark your calendars! EMG will be hosting the Sixth Annual “Challenges in Energy” Case Competition on February 3, 2017. The case topic will center around energy services in the renewable sector, with Southern California Edison serving as title sponsor for the event.
- We are seeking forward-thinking energy organizations and individuals to act as additional sponsors of the 2017 Competition. Sponsoring companies will have the opportunity to interact with top-level MBA students from across the country, and have access to the future leaders of the energy industry. Contact Robb.Wilson.2019@anderson.ucla.edu to learn about available opportunities.
- Energy 101s
- This speaker series is intended to further members' knowledge of the various facets of the energy industry, and educate students about the types of companies and roles they can pursue to advance their careers. We invite energy professionals to share their experience and knowledge with students on a wide range of topics.
- During the fall quarter, Anderson alumni and other industry leaders discussed their work in renewables development, energy storage, and utilities, and we were also fortunate to attract a State Senator deeply involved in California State energy policy. We would like to thank those that joined us, and look forward to hosting Energy 101s on Wind/Hydro, Oil & Gas, Energy Investment, and Electric Vehicles in 2017.
- Have something to present, or know of an expert that would like to share their knowledge with the future leaders of the energy industry? Contact Daniel.Komula.2017@anderson.ucla.edu to let us know
As we kick off 2017, we wish you a happy new year, and we hope to be in touch soon!
